Going out in Albufeira 2022
Albufeira is probably as famous (or infamous!) for its nightlife as it is for its beaches. The Strip, in the Montechoro area of town is the heart of Albufeira's nightlife with a plethora of clubs and bars. In the summer The Strip becomes absolutely heaving with mostly young Northern European tourists and stag/hen parties pushing alcohol consumption to its logical limit! As the sun goes down and the neon lights come on Avenida Sá Carneiro turns into a kilometre of what is possibly Portugal's liveliest (and rowdiest) nightlife.
There are a fair few eateries on The Strip too with a good range of cafes and restaurants catering for most tastes. The quality of one or two, however, may not impress every traveller! Generally, the busier the place and the more Portuguese that are eating there, the better it is likely to be!
Whilst originally, as the name suggests, the 2 Km Strip was just one main road of bars and clubs, it has since spread to adjacent blocks. It is worth pointing out that The Strip is actually around 3 Km out of Albufeira's town centre so it is worth hopping on a bus or taking a taxi.
Bars on The Strip
There are so many drinking establishments along the Strip that it would fill the page to list them. Suffice to say, you won't have any problem finding a spot to drink outside in the sun or sink a few after sun down before heading to one of the many clubs. Most will have plenty of special offers on drinks - practically every bar employ staff to lure you in with their deals.
For those wanting to party the night away there are plenty of options in around Albufeira, but most are based on the Strip. Of all the clubs along the Strip itself the most popular are Club Heaven, Club Vida and probably the best of the bunch, Liberto's "Lounge Club".
Albufeira, and possibly Portugal's, best known club is actually several miles outside of town, about halfway to Vilamoura. Kadoc itself is vast accommodating up to 7,000 clubbers over 5 dance floors with a sub-tropical garden terrace outside. Kadoc regularly attracts big name DJs from all over Europe.
Albufeira's other big name club is Kiss which is located on Rua Vasco da Gama, between the Strip and Albufeira old town. Whilst having a modest 3 dance floors Kiss gives Kadoc a run for its money in terms of popularity and tunes. It can get busy so be warned.
For those looking for a slightly more upmarket, yet still lively, night then the bars and restaurants in Albufeira's pedestrianized old town centre are a better bet. The area is teeming with souvenir stalls, bars and restaurants some of which attract locals and tourists alike. This is still Albufeira though so don't be surprised to see plenty of themed sports bars, cocktail bars and cheesy clubs!
