This walk is developed in the middle of two forests: The Exotic Forest composed of introduced trees and plants, such as the pine trees and acácias; and part of the Laurissilva Forest, an endemic forest, composed of plants and tree that can only be seen on Madeira Island.The Laurissilva Forest is a world heritage site by UNESCO since 1999 and is also one of the seven wonders of Portugal.It is an easy path, where you can find good weather for almost 365 days a year.

Levada do Norte

The Levada do Norte is one of the longest and oldest levadas on Madeira Island. Built Many centuries ago, its main purpose was to carry the water from the North side of Madeira, which was more humid and rainier, to the South side, in order to irrigate the main agricultural lands.This Levada is perfect for those who wish to do a relaxing and easy walk on their visit to Madeira Island.

Levada do Estreito

Also known as the Wine Route, this magnificent levada crosses a part of Levada do Norte, one of the largest and most important on the island. It starts at Garachico, taking the hiker to the Strait of Câmara de Lobos. It is an easy flat course with a very pleasant landscape, and can be walked at any time of the year due to the southern zone's mild climate. In this walk we can see the rich and lush vineyards that give rise to some of the best known vineyards in Madeira.

Referta - Castelejo Walk

Considered an easy-grade walk, Levada da Referta is relatively short and flat. This walk does not present any significant difficulties.The agricultural side of the walk allows you to observe the local crops grown for self-sustenance. Most of the uncultivated land belongs to people who have since emigrated or that do not make the primary sector their main activity.A Penha de Águia marks its presence throughout the walk and includes one of the many trails located close to the levada.

Maroços - Mimosa Valley Walk

The Levada dos Maroços takes you along the valley of Machico, the first city to be discovered in 1419 by Tristão Vaz Teixeira and João Gonçalves Zarco.Discover the fantastic views over the city of Machico and get to know the famous "Poios Madeirenses" (agricultural terraces).You may be lucky enough to taste some of the fresh fruit that some farmers sell along the Levada.
